VECTOR V1 Operator Guide
Shop-floor reference for Metriflux VECTOR V1 on the Height Master integrated tablet — navigation, measurement modes, part programs, calibration, and troubleshooting.
For Operators and setup technicians. This web reference summarizes the VECTOR V1 operator manual shipped with Height Master kits.
What VECTOR V1 does
VECTOR V1 is the shop-floor companion on your Height Master tablet. It displays live Z-axis displacement from the DRO, guides dimensional measurements, runs part programs with pass/fail, applies probe ball compensation, and stores results locally — no cloud required.
- LIVE
- Live readout, zero/preset, references, and measurement mode launcher
- PROG
- Part programs — ordered features with nominals, tolerances, and run mode
- LOG
- Saved measurements, filters, CSV/Excel/PDF export, save program from log
- SYS
- DRO connection, display, measurement defaults, operators, kiosk
First connection checklist
- Mount height gauge and connect USB DRO cable to the tablet
- Open VECTOR V1 → LIVE tab
- Confirm Link lamp is healthy and readout shows ● LIVE
- If probe radius is unknown, run Probe calibration (SYS → Measure or LIVE Probe cal tile)
- Optional: linear compensation, max travel cal, and groove/notch capture defaults in SYS
14 measurement modes
Tap a mode tile on LIVE to open a guided flow. Scratch is for setup only — rolling two-point Δ checks that are not saved to history.
- Height
- Single surface — relative or absolute with probe compensation
- ID / OD
- Bore and shaft diameter via lower and upper lateral sweeps (ProbeSense AutoReverse)
- Concentricity
- Inner vs outer wall eccentricity at one axial station
- Distance
- Point-to-point live capture, or derive ΔZ from two logged features
- Groove / Notch
- Internal slot width or external lug width — point capture or sweep per wall
- Flatness / Perp. / Runout
- Surface TIR, squareness between faces, or rotation TIR over one revolution
- Steps / Taper / 2D Bore
- Chain height increments, wedge-block angle, or multi-hole 2D map with rotation pass
- Scratch
- Rolling Δ for setup — not written to LOG
Part programs (PROG)
Define a reusable inspection sequence for a part number, then run it step-by-step with automatic pass/fail against drawing limits.
- PROG → enter Name and optional Drawing # → Create
- Add features: label, mode, nominal, ± tolerances (or max TIR for flatness/runout)
- Tap Run → optional serial/lot # → step-through wizard guides each feature
- On complete: summary, PDF run report, or run again with a new serial
Create programs from scratch in PROG, or select ad-hoc LOG rows in measurement order → Save program.
Auto-capture & stability gate
When the stability gate is enabled (recommended), Z must stay within ±0.01 mm for 400 ms before Capture works. Lamps cycle MOVING → SETTLING → SETTLED.
- Stability gate
- Toggle on LIVE Stability tile (long-press) or SYS → Display
- Auto-capture
- Teach a profile from a gauge-block approach — arms automatic contact capture
- Inspection presets
- Per-mode saved limit sets with nominal and ± tolerance bands for pass/fail
Calibration wizards
Run on a clean granite plate with certified masters. Allow temperature stabilization.
- Probe calibration
- Ring gauge, step gauge, or gauge block — sets ball radius for compensation
- Linear compensation
- Corrects Z scale error (displayed = scale × raw + offset)
- Wedge calibration
- Sets horizontal span for taper / angle measurements
- Max travel cal
- Full-scale Z range for bar gauge and measurement visuals (50–3000 mm)
Recalibrate probe after replacement, visible wear, or out-of-family ID/OD readings.
LOG history & export
The LOG tab stores ad-hoc measurements and program runs locally on the tablet. Select rows with checkboxes to export.
- CSV
- SPC export with timestamp, mode, value, pass flag, tolerances, and diagnostics
- Excel
- Spreadsheet export for shop-floor analysis and QMS integration
- Branded inspection report — configure company name, tagline, and logo in SYS → Admin → Reports
Quick troubleshooting
- DISCONNECTED
- Reseat USB cable; tap STOP then LINK on LIVE
- Hold steady until SETTLED
- Wait for SETTLED lamp; reduce bench vibration
- ID too small / OD too large
- Recalibrate probe ball radius
- AUTOCAP BLOCK
- Enable stability gate before using auto-capture
- Export buttons disabled
- Select at least one row with the checkbox in LOG
Operator FAQ
Common questions from the VECTOR V1 operator manual.
No. ZERO and PRESET change datum offset only — linear scale compensation is separate.
